Aussies in first 3 places overnight.

Bangers 1st
Bangers Jnr. 2nd
Dave Lorimer 3rd
Barnsie 4th
Nick 5th

I'd like to say we were in the top 10 but after our 2nd in race one we had a bit of an average day...

report from Barnsie found on Merlin site!!!

Hi Folks
Sailing is like Russian Roulette. Toileted twice today from the front and had to claw our way back.
Now in second, but when the second discard kicks in we'll, be fighting for 1st to 3rd.
Today, won the first one and had a spin on the start in the second (Sqaushed between to Aussies (Bangers to leeward and Beswick to windward on a black flag) but recovered to 5th. Next one a big shift to the left with us middle right. Clawed our way back to 8th. Next one led but the breeze filled in from behind (7 - 12 knots) on the first run and we were swollowed but clawed our way back to 5th taking 2 on the line.
Conditions very difficult and no boat consistantly up there other than us as we are not prepared to bang corners. Have the speed on the fleet in the light and medium conditions except for The Nude who we,ve battled with.
Tomorrow will be interesting as it will be a 3 way fight with Bangers and Nick Richardson.
Will let you know how we get on. Looks as if it will be a real fight out there.
Bye for now
Barnsie and Pete

I've just noticed this in that report:
Bancroft held on to the lead with Last Gasp and Seapollution (Mark Barnes/Pete Nicholson) rounding out the top 3.

Where did you find the report? I found this one with a race 8 and completely different results and the promise of another day:

As usual I'm completely confused

Er Blackie, that will be the Australian Nationals results!!

Still all to play for in the big one and with the conditions being so variable it doesnt look like anyone can be confident of the result. However, Bangers has been able to maintain consistency just like he did in Falmouth and has a good cushion so is my favourite to take the crown. He has had one hand on the trophy twice before, so maybe third time lucky.

While I want the GBR Team to bring the Ashes home, I also think it would be great for the class if the Aussies eventually broke our stranglehold.

I'll be up early tomorrow to get the results.

Does anyone have mobile numbers for any of our team? If so PM me.

Cheers
Tim

CONGRATULATIONS BANGERS!! A fantastic result for a great sailor and all round good bloke. I am sure you will be experiencing death by alcohol by way of celebration, but I think you are more than up for the challenge.

Hopefully see you in Garda for your first defence :D

Cheers

Does anyone have any photos of the prizegiving and aftermath - I would like to put a feature on the home page in the next day or so.
