2011 Nationals - Porthpean

Postby Blackie » Sat Jan 15, 2011 10:25 am

Well we've now got confirmation from Porthpean that they can host our Nationals this year.

We have booked it for the 9th/10th July but... Dan, is there any reason why we couldn't delay it by a week to 16th/17th July???

I've had a request that's all...

Hi Tony good new from the club for that Nationals.

Is the suggested date change from the club, or an individual in the fleet? My view is that the suggested 8th,9th,10th July date has been pencilled in on this forum for a while now and unless its a now requirement from the club, a change may cause problems to those who have already planned accordingly for the 8th, 9th 10th.

Cheers

Can we confirm the dates as I had a reserve on a apartment on the golf course next to the sailing club.

Hi all. Apologies for the uncertainty about dates. We'll stick to the original dates of 8th/9th and 10th of July. I was asked to consider the next weekend by the only Porthpean B14er who couldn't make the original dates. Obviously now that's not a possibility. Sorry Jeremy!!!

I've arranged for the club to be open on the 7th as well so we have a day to bimble, measure and train perhaps! We can then start reasonably early on Fri 8th...

There is camping very near to the club. It's just a field they borrow from a farmer so no facilities but the club is next door so...

The organisers are myself, Crispin and Guy and we'll be going down to the club in the next couple of weeks to arrange all the preliminaries. I plan to take some further pictures of the club and have some more details of the camping etc at that point.

Besides the usual suspects we'd really like to organise a champs that all you newbies want to attend as well so let us know if there's anything specific you'd like and we'll see what we can do!

Thats it for now

Regards

Tony

Tony

Can you ask the club if they can provide an accommodation list.

Thanks

Good accomodation list can be found in a variety of camping shops :)

None of this B&B or Golf Course malarky!!!

Camp at the club overlooking the sea and beach (if its the same field as it was years ago)
Enjoy the club hospitality until they throw us out of the bar...
Repeat everyday until the event ends :)

The club is down a VERY steep hill... so wouldnt fancy the walk up and back to any accomodation.. It nearly killed my old Metro with the entershed on the back.

Check out the club website for some photos of the venue. Really is a top spot....

And don't worry about the fairly long slipway to the beach. I've sorted out a quad I hope to do the heavy work!
